Part 4 (D.O.K.)

We emerged from the mountains and found a mudslide had devastated the hills. As we neared the low lands back to the capital we found them flooded. We where forced to turn back north and find passage back home from Asorlan.
Our travel across the straight between Erweathleon and Hurondwen went well. However, when we arrived to the harbor of Telamoth we found the harbor destroyed and the once beautiful deta had become a marsh land. Bodies of thousands of dead fish covered the surface and land. The entire area was filled with all manner of biting insects.
When we finally returned home to the capital we expected to inform the emperor of our findings and theories. However, to my disbelief we arrived to a city in chaos. The entire southern district had been burned. Many of the oldest libraries were now ruins. The district was mostly poor housing and slums, but the ship yards and some the oddest buildings where there.
The group dispersed, some stayed to help in the southern district, others returned to their family or to the Order. I head to the palace took notify the emperor on all that had happened. - Larkin, April. 26, 1823
βββThe next day I followed out my emperors task. I was to lead investigations into the southern district. We were quick to find one single standing building, untouched by the flames. Most disturbing of all come from our interviews with the surviving residents. Most told of hooded figures, while others told of flying creatures that climbed on rooftops and flew off with family members. There was one homeless woman who told me of an unnaturally tall man with the skin around his mouth folded back, revealing a disturbing grin.
In the house we found cultists. Fighting broke out between them and the constables with me. We fought our way deeper into the house. In the basement we found their leader and more of their congregation. Most met their end, however their leader slipped away into a secret passageway that lead deep breath the streets. We left a few guards in the house but no farther investigation or pursuit would be continued without reinforcements and the emperors approval. - Larkin, April. 27 1823.
