Addressed to his majesty, Emperor Marcus and the lady Inquisitor Theresa:

In the years after the war. I have successfully found the remnants of the lost journal of my predecessor. However, much of the journal has been badly damaged in the ruin underground acropolis. We at the Order of Archaic Discovery have also completely surveyed this hidden city beneath the capital. All discoveries and artifacts will be over looked at the Order before entering the publics knowledge.

The main reason for my decent into the acropolis was for the Journal of Master Larkin. We discovered the journal amongst a passageway that lead nowhere. It's location was twenty feet from an alter at the center of a cross roads. Three directions lead into the city, while the fourth only lead to a dead end. The remains of the cultists and your royal guards lay around the alter. Other unknown remains in greater numbers were also found amongst them. To the best of our knowledge they resemble a mix of large cave dwelling animals such as bats, rats, and moles. However, the bone structures are abnormally large and made up of different combinations between listed animals. All remains had been scratched and gnawed on.

We have explored this subterranean ruin for the past three years and have found no leads on the inhabitants or any remaining creatures. We have made detailed maps, we plain on further exploration and study.

The original journal with it's blood stains and drops of hardened gold has been sent to the Inquisition as ordered. We have made two copies, one will be kept safe in our library. The other will be sent in with this letter, along with my edits and the unsalvageable entries removed. - October, 28th 1837
